Over the summer baseball report

As we get toward the middle of August, most of us are stunned that WE ARE WATCHING INTERESTING BASEBALL IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST. I remember, just one short year ago, my dad and I boycotted Royals baseball. We would go sit outside, and follow the Cardinals games on our phones, as the Royals were losing games 8-7. I remember laying in bed at night and wondering how Jeff Franceour did that evening. Whether he struck out twice, three times, or even four times against a decent pitcher. I remember the days of Chris Getz at second base. Oh wait, nevermind... But you get the point. The Kansas City Royals have been bad for a long time. A REALLY long time. Last year at this time, they were 49-64, they are currently 61-54. I gave up on winning the division a couple of weeks ago, but I still think we have a shot at the wildcard, even though (according to baseball prospectus) they only have a 5.9% chance of making it to October. That means that 6 out of 100 times, they will reach the wildcard game. Usually, no one would blink an eye. (I am looking at you, fans of teams in the AL East except the Blue Jays) But the Royals continue to surprize people. I had, quite frankly given up on them at the All Star break but then they came out of the break winning seven straight series. I guess the point that I am trying to get across is that it is called progress. The Royals are making it.
